From city life back to organic wine: Martin's new beginning in Kitzingen!
In an impressive return to his roots, Martin reflects on his homeland. After years in the restaurant business in Frankfurt, where he discovered the world of organically grown wine, he decided to revive his parents' winery in Kitzingen. The idea came about during the Corona pandemic when his restaurant had to close. He returns with the breath of fresh air of sustainability in his luggage, but not without challenges - critics question his abilities, after all he only completed an internship in Austria.
But he doesn't travel alone: together with his sister Valeska, who is returning from Berlin with her family, he pitches in and does everything he can to redesign the winery. Stormy times are not long in coming, as hail destroys half of the yield in the second year. Despite the setbacks, Martin remains optimistic and determined not to become discouraged. A look over the neighborhood
A remarkable new beginning is also taking place near Burghausen. Tim Höbel also took the step of returning to his parents' farm. He brings a breath of fresh air into the company and sets a new direction: horses will be used for agricultural work in the future. Tim has specialized in breeding cold-blooded horses and sells the foals - a decision that makes both ecological sense and economically interesting.
His wife Lizzy, who has a close connection to animals, looks after her mother's “Bindlweber” farm in the neighboring town. With over 400 years of history, this farm is home to numerous animals and offers Lizzy the opportunity to live out her commitment to agriculture. Commuting between the two farms brings with it additional work, but it also opens up new perspectives and opportunities for the family. ARD media library informed.
The future of organic wines
Martin and Tim, two men who, upon their return, are characterized by new ideas and a clear goal: strengthening regional agriculture. Martin's winery benefits from its reorientation towards organically grown wine. Rummel organic wine shows further possibilities. Organic wines are not only becoming increasingly popular, they are also a step towards sustainability that more and more people are appreciating.
For both families, returning to their roots is a way to preserve the traditions of Bavarian agriculture while at the same time breaking new ground. It remains exciting to see what successes and challenges the future holds for these pioneers. Martin and Tim's stories are not only inspiring, they are a living expression of what life in the country is all about.
