Traffic chaos in Kitzingen: Injuries, accidents and police on duty!

There was a lot going on with the police officers in and around Kitzingen last week. Reports of traffic accidents and incidents in the region are increasing. Friday evening in particular turned out to be quiet, but no less eventful, as several operations attracted the attention of the authorities.

On Friday evening, a citizen reported a badly damaged car in Prichsenstadt on the ST2260 between Geiselwind and Wiesentheid. The police discovered that the vehicle key was in the car and suspected an accident due to a collision with the guardrail after the driver left the road. Unfortunately, the driver of the vehicle could not be found. The Kitzingen police station will receive information on 09321/141-0.

Traffic accidents in the region

On the same evening, another incident occurred in Markt Einersheim: A 54-year-old BMW driver overlooked a scooter driver from Iphofen, who then had to be taken to hospital with injuries. There was also a traffic accident in Marktbreit in which a 70-year-old Mercedes driver hit a parked vehicle while parking, resulting in total damage of around 7,000 euros.

In Geiselwind, a truck driver lost large amounts of oil after the vehicle's oil pan was torn open. The vehicle had to be towed away. And there was also a non-tragic accident in Kitzingen on Friday evening when a bus hit an Opel while shunting, causing total damage of around 2,500 euros.

In between, another incident occurred in Volkach: an 81-year-old driver overlooked a 56-year-old cyclist, who sustained minor injuries. In Marktsteft, a 60-year-old was inattentive when pulling out of a parking space and collided with a Porsche in the parking lot of a grocery store, resulting in damage worth 3,050 euros.

Unexplained incidents and the pressure on the police

Police work in the region is also challenged by various crimes. On Thursday, October 24th, daily earnings were stolen from a restaurant on Schloßplatz in Marktbreit. The unknown perpetrator was able to steal 970 euros. The following Friday, a power distribution box and a stone wall in Kitzingen were damaged with graffiti-like spray painting in the football team's club colors.

As part of the traffic checks, the officers in Kitzingen came across a 38-year-old Hungarian who showed symptoms typical of drugs. A blood sample was ordered and further driving was prohibited, while a fine procedure was opened for driving under the influence of drugs.

The constantly increasing accident rate in Germany is a worrying issue. According to official statistics, more and more traffic accidents are being recorded. In 2024, for example, a total of 97,503 traffic accidents were recorded in Saxony, which represents a decrease of 2% compared to the previous year. However, the number of serious injuries and the number of traffic accidents committed under the influence of alcohol or drugs increased. These developments affect road safety nationwide and also have local consequences, as the current events in Kitzingen show.

What happens next remains to be seen. The Kitzingen police are ready to take action in suspected cases and want citizens to turn to them in confidence.

If you have further information, the Kitzingen police station is available on 09321/141-0.
