Kitzingen celebrates: cohesion and tradition in the settlers' association

In Kitzingen, citizens show great interest in their social cohesion. At a recent meeting of the settlers' association, Mayor Stefan Güntner spoke to around 50 members and other guests, including former mayor Siegfried Müller and settler queen Britta Neuerer. The presence of eight city councilors, which corresponds to 25 percent of the city council, was seen as a strong sign of appreciation for the association's work. Chairman Ralf Machwart was pleased with the high number of participants in the Siedler sports club building, as MainPost reported.

The settlers' association has established itself as an important contact point in Kitzingen. Not only tree pruning courses take place here, but also numerous activities that strengthen neighborhood cohesion. The commitment of these club members is also noticed by the city, which helps to promote neighborhood ties.

Honor for Klaus Christof

Another important event in Kitzingen was the honoring of Klaus Christof, who has been a city councilor for 30 years. At the most recent meeting he was honored by Mayor Stefan Güntner for his many years of voluntary work. Christof represents the Municipal Initiative Kitzingen (KIK) and is known for his critical views and his controversial spirit in the city council, as inFranken describes.

The KIK, which has existed since 1983, was founded to strengthen citizen engagement and make local politics more transparent. The KIK currently consists of two members: Klaus Christof and Wolfgang Popp. In the past, their initiatives were often characterized by heated debates, but recently the momentum seems to have slowed somewhat. However, KIK's main concerns remain unchanged: more environmental awareness, citizen participation and breaking up deadlocked structures.

A look at the political landscape

The political structures in Kitzingen are characterized by a large number of parties and non-attached members. The city representatives include, among others, many members of the CSU, but also representatives of various other parties such as the GREENS, SPD and ProKT. The second mayor Manfred Freitag from the FW-FBW complements the political picture, while mayor Astrid Glos is viewed as non-attached. This diversity in city politics is also reflected in the different perspectives that are brought into the political debates.

The committed citizens and the active city councilors work hand in hand to constantly improve the living environment in Kitzingen. Whether in the club or in the city council - the voices of Kitzingers are heard and are crucial for the future direction of their city.
