Rapid career: Levin Saveur fights for the European Championship ticket in Tampere!

The athletics scene in Kaufbeuren is in excitement because Levin Saveur, an outstanding runner, has his sights set on the U20 European Championships. The athlete, who competes for LG Stadtwerke Munich, has shown some impressive performances in the last few weeks. How Mercury reported that he improved his personal best time over the 2,000 meter obstacle in Pliezhausen to 5:50.03 minutes and is now ranked 3rd in the German U20 best list.

At the “Long Running Night” in Karlsruhe, Saveur also showed his skills and won the men’s B run over 3,000 meters obstacle with a time of 8:56.57 minutes. These impressive performances helped him meet the standard for the U20 European Championships in his flagship discipline at the first attempt. Six days later in Ingolstadt, he reduced his best time over 3,000 meters by twelve seconds to 8:14.22 minutes, which currently puts him in second place in the German U20 best list.

A look into the future

The nomination for the U20 European Championships, which will take place in Tampere, Finland, in August, now also depends on his performance at the German Youth Championships, which will be held in Bochum from July 11th to 13th. Until then, Saveur has set himself the goal of staying injury-free and continuing to optimize his form.

What is particularly noteworthy is that Levin Saveur was able to win the title of German champion in the U18 age group at the German Cross Championships in Riesenbeck, North Rhine-Westphalia in 2024. At the equestrian center of Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum, he overcame a demanding 4.3 kilometers over uneven meadow terrain. In the final sprint he confidently pulled away from his competitor Abie Hensgen and secured first place, which underlines his impressive development in the sport according to the district messenger.

A promising path

Levin is no stranger to the German athletics circle. Last year he was able to achieve fourth place in the Cross-DM and this season he also qualified for the NK1 junior national squad of the German Athletics Association. His talent is evident not only in individual disciplines, but also in the team competition, where he was able to win gold in the U18 team competition together with his teammates Moritz Gutowski and Paul Rammelt.

The U20 European Championships are an important step in Levin Saveur's career. Not only to collect points for the German U20 leaderboard, but also to compete with the best young talents in Europe. His performances and tireless commitment could soon lead to international challenges, after two U18 European Championship standards have already inspired him in the outdoor season.

In any case, athletics fans in Kaufbeuren can be excited to see what Levin Saveur will achieve in the coming weeks!
