95 years of Hiltrud Knab: A life for the family and the unborn!
Today, August 13, 2025, Hiltrud Knab celebrates her impressive 95th birthday. There was great joy about this special occasion when Dr. Erika Rössler, third mayor of Kaufbeuren, conveyed the warmest congratulations on behalf of the city and also the mayor Stefan Bosse. Not only was a colorful bouquet of flowers presented, but also a towel with the city's coat of arms, which symbolizes its long-standing connection to Kaufbeuren. Born in Marktbreit am Main, Hiltrud moved to Kaufbeuren in 1954 to follow her husband.
As a mother of eight children, Hiltrud Knab has experienced a lot throughout her life. A tragic stroke of fate was the death of her youngest daughter Monika. Nevertheless, she considers her children to be the most beautiful experience in her life. Her commitment to protecting unborn children is remarkable and includes lectures, information stands and sermons given over many years.
Commitment to unborn life
Their commitment is underpinned by the activities in the Catholic Church, which recently took place in a Panel discussion on the topic “Protection of unborn life”. This event, organized by the Episcopal Foundation for Mother and Child, brought together around 60 participants who discussed the social debate surrounding abortion. The legal framework such as Section 218 of the Criminal Code and the challenges in pregnancy counseling were pointed out.
Bishop Dr. Karl-Heinz Wiesemann emphasized the fundamental importance of protecting unborn life and the importance of solidarity in society. In times of crisis, the role of the church is crucial in offering people support.
Wisdom of life and good health
Hiltrud Knab, now 95 years old and, according to her own statements, in good health, attributes this primarily to her enjoyment of Franconian wine. This is how Dr. Rössler not only conveyed congratulations, but also the wish for continued good health, with the prospect that Mayor Bosse can congratulate him on his 100th birthday.
Especially at her age, Hiltrud remains an outstanding example of a fulfilled life characterized by love for her family and tireless commitment to protecting unborn life. Her life story and her commitment continue to touch many people and are a strong symbol of the values that continue to be of great importance to her.
