Nicolas Schindler back at ERC Ingolstadt – promotion in his sights!

ERC Ingolstadt has signed a promising new signing for the U23 team, 20-year-old Nicolas Schindler. The talented striker comes from the Dresdner Eislöwen, where he played a key role in winning the DEL2 title. Last season he scored four goals and provided three assists in 70 games. He has now signed a two-year contract with ERC. This is reported by the ERC Ingolstadt website.

Schindler, who began his ice hockey journey in the ERC's youth ranks, was already able to gain experience at the highest German level. In the 2022/23 season he celebrated his debut in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and wrote furious chapters in his career so far with two assists in ten appearances. He was also on the ice for the ERC in the Champions Hockey League (CHL), which proves his versatility.

A great deal of confidence in the future

Sports director Tim Regan was confident about Schindler's development. He emphasizes that the young player has the potential to develop further in the professional squad. Ice Hockey News adds that after his successful years in the youth ranks and after his time in Bayreuth, Schindler is now ready to take his place in the professional team.

By signing Schindler, ERC Ingolstadt shows that the course has been set for the 2025/26 season. In addition to Schindler, the current squad also includes numerous experienced players who will fight together for the club's success. These include goalkeepers like Devin Williams and Nico Pertuch, and the strikers who are willing to change are also looking into the tube.

A look back at the DEL2

The DEL2, in which Schindler recently played successfully, has been part of the second ice hockey class in Germany since the 2013/2014 season. The league was created as the successor to the 2nd Ice Hockey Bundesliga and offers exciting competition for numerous German teams. This season, 14 clubs have confirmed their commitment to the DEL2, which continues to be a springboard for talented players. The density of talent and competitiveness give the coming season a different dimension. An interesting study presents the Ice hockey statistics page which provides insights into the league's development and recent championships.

Ingolstadt seems well prepared for the 2025/26 season. With Nicolas Schindler at their side and a mix of experienced and young talent, the club hopes to score points in the league again.
