New DLRG board in Ingolstadt: Fuchs succeeds Gebauer after 15 years!

The German Life Saving Society (DLRG) Ingolstadt has made an important change at the top of the association. After 15 years, Eckehard W. Gebauer hands over the chairmanship to Christian Fuchs. Under Gebauer, the DLRG Ingolstadt was able to become the most successful Bavarian club in rescue sports and now has over 600 members. The change in the board was marked by a warm farewell in which Fuchs praised Gebauer for his tireless commitment and human nature. “You gave the club a face,” he explained appreciatively.

With Fuchs at the helm, new impulses are in sight. The new board consists not only of the chairman Christian Fuchs, but also of a number of committed people: Katharina von Kap-herr will act as deputy, Antje Grundheber will manage the technical matters, while Aysun Henke will act as treasurer. Also part of the team is Emily Labus, who represents the DLRG Youth Ingolstadt. Fuchs has decided to preserve the tried and tested while at the same time introducing innovative ideas for the further development of the club.

Commitment to waterfront safety

The DLRG in Ingolstadt is not just a club that deals with rescue sports. The commitment to safety on and in the water is paramount. The organization consists largely of volunteers who work in different fields. Activities include learning to swim with children, youth work, rescue sports and lifeguard training. This variety of tasks not only promotes the skills of the members, but also strengthens cohesion and the joy of doing things together, as can be read on the DLRG Ingolstadt website.

Anyone who is interested in getting to know the DLRG better, be it as an athlete, supporter or simply as a visitor, is warmly invited. The DLRG website provides comprehensive information on offers, courses and events, all of which are held in the region.

Rescue sports in detail

The rescue sport competitions are an exciting challenge. In Europe, athletes initially compete against each other in indoor competitions. They compete in various disciplines that require quick handling of a rescue dummy as well as swimming style over time. Overseas, on the beaches of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, open ocean operations have become more important.

This is where open water disciplines come into play, which are based on the everyday requirements of lifeguards. Skills such as the safe use of harness rescuers, rescue boards and kayaks are crucial. These challenges not only make rescue sports personal enrichment, but also enable the skills learned to be directly applied in an emergency, which are explained in detail on the DLRG website.

The voluntary commitment, the interaction of all members and the continuous development are what make the DLRG Ingolstadt a shining example of community and water safety. It remains exciting to see where the journey with the new board will lead.
