Kim Huber returns after injuries: The comeback of the beach hero!

After a year full of ups and downs, Ingolstadt beach volleyball player Kim Huber is about to make a comeback. After a challenging 2024 season marked by injuries, he is now working on regaining his level of play and is optimistic about the future. Huber, who had to take a break due to various serious injuries, such as a herniated disc and two torn ligaments, has decided to return to the field. His new partner is the impressive block player Valentin Schneckenburger, who, with his two meters height, opens up new possibilities for the team.

Before his return, Huber asked himself whether he wanted to continue putting in the effort for beach volleyball. The answer is obvious: despite the challenges, he wants to build on his previous successes. In 2022 and 2023 he was able to win considerable titles together with Daniel Kirchner, including the Bavarian championship, and also competed in the German championship on Timmendorfer Strand.

Preparations for the German Beach Tour

The coming season promises to be exciting. Huber and Schneckenburger have already won ranking points, but in order to qualify for the prestigious German Beach Tour (GBT) you have to keep collecting points diligently. Tournaments are planned every weekend - for example the season opener, where they took third place in Ingolstadt. This performance was complemented by a win in Duisburg, a third place in Barby and a fifth place in Norderney.

The German Beach Tour has established itself as the highest-ranking national tour in beach volleyball and includes tournaments throughout Germany. The tour started on May 9, 2024 with the first tournament in Düsseldorf, a high-profile event that lasts four days and attracts the best players in Germany. Not only titles but also important ranking points are awarded here, paving the way to the German Championships.

Exciting participants on the German Beach Tour

The tournament in Düsseldorf attracts a variety of talented teams, including runners-up Anna Behlen and Sarah Schulz as well as the new Hamburg duo Lukas Pfretzschner and Sven Winter. The interim duo Paul Henning and Bennet Poniewaz are also at the start, while in the women's field Anna-Lena Grüne returns to the arena after her injury break. The entire field of participants promises exciting encounters and interesting games, which will now also be streamed via the Twitch channel of GBT media partner SPONTENT.

For Kim Huber and his new partner Valentin Schneckenburger, qualifying for the GBT remains a central goal. Despite all the setbacks, Huber is optimistic that he will make progress and regain his form during the season. The team has already taken the first steps to secure a place in the rankings. Their recent qualification in Bremen provided both positive and educational experiences and the duo will do everything they can to shine at future tournaments.

There is great anticipation for the coming season, and the Ingolstadt fans can look forward to exciting games and hopefully many more successes. Beach volleyball thrives on passion and team spirit – qualities that Huber and Schneckenburger bring with them.
