Bonfire rocks Hallstadt: 40 years of music history and courage to live!
On October 30, 2025, the Vamos in Hallstadt will be the venue for a musical festival when the Bavarian hard rock band Bonfire takes the stage on the occasion of their 40th anniversary. The atmosphere already promises to be exciting, because the band is bringing their new album “Higher Ground”, which caused a sensation in the charts a few months ago - number 30 in Germany, number 35 in Switzerland and also very popular in Austria and Sweden. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are sold out kartenkiosk-bamberg.de and available by telephone.
Bonfire was founded 52 years ago under the name Cacumen in Ingolstadt and made a name for itself in the international music business in the 1980s. In 1986 the band changed their name to Bonfire and has enjoyed numerous successes since then. Hans Ziller, the head and founder of the band, is the last remaining founding member and is still pulling out all the stops to bring the band forward. In a conversation with Ralf Kestel, Ziller talks about the past four decades, the new album and his moving autobiography "Rock'n'Roll Survivor", which runs to an impressive 465 pages and has sold over 7,000 copies.
A life between music and challenges
In his biography, Ziller openly discusses the fact that he struggles with bipolar disorder, which accompanies him throughout his life. Such personal insights are certainly not commonplace, but they help to bring the often stigmatized topic of mental illness into focus. Experts promote exchanges on such topics because studies show that musicians often suffer from depression and anxiety disorders. A study from the Max Planck Institute suggests that there is a genetic connection between musicality and psychological problems, which makes Ziller's experiences all the more tangible. The musician also talks about his personal struggles, including his addiction to alcohol.
The upcoming trip through Europe shows that Bonfire remains motivated to present their music to a wide audience. Ziller notes that the band's acceptance has increased, which can also be attributed to their socially critical themes. It is important to him to shed light on the “not always glittering world” of the music business and to create awareness of the reality of many musicians.
A film about an eventful life
In order to reach even more people, Ziller is planning to make a film about his life, which will be released in cinemas in 2026. He wrote the script himself and it will certainly be exciting to see how his story is brought to life on the big screen. His experiences could give a voice to many who experience similar challenges and encourage the courage to speak openly about mental illness.
For all hard rock fans and music lovers who want an unforgettable show, the signs point to rock'n'roll. The anticipation is already great when Bonfire takes the stage at Vamos under the title “Higher Ground”. So get your tickets quickly to be there and experience a piece of music history up close.
