Ebern Apple Festival inspires despite the gray sky: enjoyment and variety!
Last weekend in Ebern everything revolved around apples and pumpkins, as the 31st Apple Festival attracted numerous visitors to the city. The event was from Boar Nature Conservation Association and the Haßberge district association for horticulture and land conservation and was a complete success.
Despite the gray sky, many people gathered to visit the various stands offering information and tastings around the two main themes of each other. Here, guests had the opportunity to try regional delicacies and learn more about the diverse varieties of apples.
Book flea market and meeting festival
A special highlight of the festival was the book flea market that took place in the parish hall. With over 5,000 articles, there was something for every reading taste. For those who wanted something a little more exotic in terms of cuisine, there was a meeting party in the courtyard of the local history museum, where dishes from Syria, the Ivory Coast and Ukraine were offered. This initiative not only promoted intercultural exchange but also pampered the taste buds of visitors.
But the festival was not only a gourmet paradise, but also a place for learning. The presentations on apple and pumpkin cultivation were met with great interest. The organizers managed to convey the topic of our local fruit culture in an appealing way.
Volunteering for nature
As part of the event there was also a look at the commitment of the BUND Nature Conservation Boars in the region. The amphibian campaign, organized by Lutz Freund and Thomas Friedrich, took place a few weeks ago. Over 100 volunteer hours were spent to protect the animals during their breeding season. The control of the spawning waters produced a positive result: of the 640 animals recorded, 597 were common toads, including 17% females. The number of newts rose to 31 and the recording of 12 water frogs was also a pleasing premiere. The commitment of the students from Ebern Middle School, who carried out an inspection night with their teacher Marina Bittruf, shows how important sustainable nature conservation is for the young generation.
Overall, the 31st Apple Festival was a successful event that not only created a festive atmosphere, but also increased awareness of environmental and natural issues. Visitors and organizers are already looking forward to the upcoming festivals and events that will further enrich community life in Ebern.
