Bat adventure in Murnau Moos: Excursion on July 11th!
What's going on in Murnau's moss? On Friday, July 11, 2025, nature lovers have the opportunity to gain exciting insights into the mysterious life of the bats. The old canteen of the hard stone, a witness to the rock loss, becomes the setting for a fascinating excursion that takes place from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Here the participants can observe the \ “beard bat \” in their natural habitat how they live in the walls during the day and break up for twilight flight to search for prey. The excursion is headed by Tim Korschefsky, the head of the Biological Station Murnau Moos, and the bat expert Max Kieckbusch. At this event, the participants not only learn about the beard bats, but also encounter other types of bats on their way.
The event is aimed at all age groups, and families are also expressly invited. So that it does not become a dark matter on this exploration tour, it is recommended to bring a flashlight with you. And who knows, maybe glowworms also shine the way and you can even discover a dormouse on the canteen. This exciting night in nature is carried out in cooperation with the LBV regional group GAP-WM-SOG, which is also committed to protecting and observing wild animals.
Next bird observation in September
Another highlight for nature enthusiasts is on the program on Sunday, September 28, 2025. From 6:00 a.m. to around 10:00 a.m., visitors have the opportunity to observe the flying guests at the Europe -wide day of migratory bird watching, organized by the Biological Station Murnauer Moos and the Landesbund for Bird Protection in Bavaria. You can expect exciting observation options such as pulling starlings, winter gold chicken and rare species such as the Merlin and the grain consecration.
The participants learn a lot about the detection of pulling birds and the calls of the Heidelerche, with a critical look at the influence of climate change on the migratory birds. According to the observations, there is a debriefing in the biological station that offers the perfect space for exchange and deepening. To be there, registration is required. Even if no special previous knowledge is necessary, you should take care of a good mood, warm clothing and possibly rain protection. Bishopric and spending are also welcome to observe the birds in the best possible way.
