Parents ABC in Garmisch: Tips and support for young families!
What's new in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district? Quite a lot, because the KoKi Early Childhood Coordination Center and the Family Support Department have launched an exciting educational program. The “Parents ABC” is aimed at (expectant) parents with children aged 0 to 3 and offers a wide range of topics. The aim is to give parents suggestions for their everyday family life, to show financial support options and to provide information about the development of children. The program promotes exchange between parents and offers insights into important aspects of early childhood.
Parents have the opportunity to choose from a total of six different building blocks that are most relevant to them. This allows them to concentrate specifically on the topics that are particularly important to them. Modules 3 and 4 will be offered again in July 2025 and are really worth a look.
Important dates
On Tuesday, July 8th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., module 3 “Becoming a father, being a father” will take place online. This building block is particularly aimed at fathers of newborns up to 3 years old. This is all about the role of a father, the challenges that come with it, and the valuable bond between fathers and their sons or daughters.
Two weeks later, on Thursday, July 24th, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., interested parents can take part in module 4 “Learning through play, fun, support” at the Mittenwald family support center (Dammkarstrasse 3, town hall, 1st floor). Here they learn how important play is for their children's development and learning and receive practical suggestions for suitable games and picture books. The interdisciplinary early intervention center at Hochried Clinic supports this component and contributes valuable expertise.
Additional information about parental care
Particularly practical: every child at the school who requires additional support and care can take part in holiday care. For students without a childcare contract, there is the option of applying for a separate holiday module via the EFöB office in the youth welfare office. Since spring 2019, daily registration is no longer required, which makes organization much easier for parents.
If you would like to register your children quickly, you should know that registrations for the various offers in the holiday program are accepted every day until 9 a.m. - as long as places are available. A parental swimming permit is required for swimming lessons, which can be obtained from the EFöB office.
During the summer holidays, students from the 2nd school year can also look forward to regular children's trips, which are always very popular. The educators decide which children can take part, which certainly creates a lot of interest.
As you can see, there are numerous programs in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district and at schools like the Erika Mann Elementary School that offer both education and care for parents and children. Those responsible have a good knack when it comes to taking the needs of families in the region into account. Early childhood remains an important concern, which is promoted both in school and in special offers such as “Parents ABC”.
