Drug raid in Garmisch: woman arrested with baton and narcotics!

On July 2, 2025, there was a remarkable police operation in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district: officers used a judicial search warrant to visit the living quarters of a 43-year-old woman. The focus of the investigation was on suspicion of illegal trafficking in narcotics. How Innpulse reports, the investigators showed a good instinct because they found a large number of drugs in the apartment in large quantities, including amphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, LSD and ecstasy tablets. They also came across a baton, which further strengthened the allegations against the woman.

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen police station assumes that the suspect was not only active in connection with cannabis, which has been partially legalized since April 1, 2024, but also with other illegal substances. The 43-year-old was then arrested and taken to a correctional facility after an arrest warrant was issued on July 3, 2025. The investigation is still ongoing and the specialist commissioner for drug offenses has taken over the case.

A worrying trend

Drug-related crime is a significant problem that is occurring not only locally, but also on a national level. According to Statista, around 347,000 cases of drug crime were recorded by the police in Germany in 2023, an increase of 2 percent compared to the previous year. What is particularly alarming is that around 208,000 of these cases involved cannabis, whose legal status has been partially liberalized. However, cannabis remains the most important substance in the illegal drug trade.

A worrying overall picture also emerges when one looks at the number of drug-related deaths, which reached a total of around 2,230 cases in 2023. These figures underline the urgency of taking action against drug trafficking and the consumption of illegal substances, which cause not only health but also social problems.

A difficult business

Another incident in the region illustrates the seriousness of the situation: Loud Mercury In 2022, the police seized around six kilograms of marijuana and over 20,000 euros in cash, which is connected to the illegal trade of three men from the Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. Here too, arrest warrants were issued which underline the seriousness of the drug issue.

Drug crime remains a central issue that not only concerns the local police, but also has a high priority in public discussion. It remains to be seen what further measures will be taken to address these challenges.
