Gröbenzell celebrates diversity: Intercultural festival on July 19th!
A festival of cultures is just around the corner: On July 19, 2025, Gröbenzell will be the venue for the intercultural festival “Gröbenzell is colorful”. From 2:30 p.m., the town hall square is transformed into a colorful mosaic of culinary delicacies and cultural performances from almost 30 different countries. The festival is organized by the local administration and the committed local councilor Cordula Braun, supported by citizens who have both a migration background and are locals, like her South German newspaper reported.
The colorful program offers something for every taste. A highlight will be the performance of the Ba-Irish band from the Evangelical Zacchaeus Church, which will create a great atmosphere with Irish and Bavarian music. Visitors can also look forward to the local song about Gröbenzell by the Zackis, followed by a touching song about feelings, performed by the children of the “Schatzkiste”. An exciting children's program awaits the little festival visitors in the church fountain: in the rubber duck race run by the parish of St. Johann Baptist, all children can send their own ducks into the race. There are also creative activities such as making rag dolls in the community library and many other activities on the church lawn, including fairytale yurts and braiding.
A celebration for the whole family
The festival lasts until 10:30 p.m. and not only offers a variety of stands with culinary delicacies, but also a presentation of typical national costumes, which will take place on stage at 6:30 p.m. Visitors can present their own traditional costume in a cheerful setting. Whether traditional or colorful, everyone is invited to be part of this festive event. Anyone who has to expect a rain shower on the day of the festival can rest assured: the alternative date is July 26th, so nothing should stand in the way of the colorful celebrations.
Another interesting aspect of the festival is the exhibition “Gröbenzell is Colorful”, which shows portraits of Vuk Latinovic in public spaces. This initiative is intended to set an example for openness, respect and democratic coexistence. In order to make the diversity and the participants visible, there will also be poster installations throughout the local area, such as the one Municipality of Gröbenzell highlights.
A look at the Intercultural Week
The “Gröbenzell is colorful” festival takes place in the run-up to the Intercultural Week (IKW), which will take place from September 21st to 28th, 2025 under the motto “for it!” will stand. This event places further emphasis on the topic of integration and solidarity with migrants. This year, Refugee Day falls on September 26th, an important occasion to promote diversity in society, according to the organizers interkulturwoche.de report.
