Petra Stadlhuber: First aid expert brings a breath of fresh air to Freyung!
First aid training has received a new boost in the Freyung-Grafenau district. Petra Stadlhuber, Malteser's training manager since January 1, 2025, brings a breath of fresh air to the training offerings. Together with Johannes Breit, the diocesan training officer, she draws a consistently positive assessment of the previous courses, which primarily focus on local needs. “We want to pass on first aid knowledge widely to the population and companies,” explains Stadlhuber proudly.
In recent months, special course formats have been developed that are tailored to different target groups. Companies can now request targeted training for their employees, with the Maltese company relying on a networked system that is not only active in Freyung, but also in Waldkirchen and Grafenau. Schools and kindergartens also benefit from these expanded offerings. “We do everything we can to ensure that first aid becomes a matter of course in everyday life,” Stadlhuber continued.
Creative course offerings and new formats
A highlight are the newly introduced formats, which were specifically designed for certain professional groups. For example, there are open training courses for staff in doctors' practices and pharmacies, as well as courses specifically tailored to nursing staff that contain realistic case studies. First aid training is also offered for trainers in sports clubs. This variety of options clearly shows that the Maltese have their finger on the pulse of the times and want to continue to be popular with their offerings in the future.
Anyone who would like to attend a first aid course for children's emergencies can be particularly happy: On September 12th, a corresponding course will take place in the rooms of the Freyung Adult Education Center from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The courses are designed to make learning about wellbeing and how first aid measures work easy and entertaining. Among other things, the basics of first aid are covered, but the focus is also on recognizing and assessing dangers.
Regular refreshment is mandatory
An important topic is refresher training for company first aiders, who must take part in a course every two years in accordance with the requirements of the professional association. “This is not only a requirement, but also a good way to be able to react quickly and safely in an emergency,” says Stadlhuber. Affected companies can request the training courses directly from the Maltese company, provided a suitable room is available.
The Maltese also offer individual first aid courses that are tailored to the needs of the target groups. This not only creates interest, but also ensures that knowledge of first aid is well anchored in the region. Information about current course offerings and dates is available online at any time www.malteser-kurs.de visible.
Stadlhuber is not only involved in training as a leader, but is also active as a first aid trainer, who has been leading events on prevention courses and children's emergencies since 2018. Johannes Breit praises Stadlhuber’s “excellent and flexible” way of working, which makes it possible to respond to the individual needs of the participants. The catchment area of the courses offered extends across the Freyung-Grafenau district and the Regen district, which further increases the range and availability of the educational offerings.
