Horse drama in Allershausen: Fire brigade saves run out!

On Tuesday, June 19, 2025, a remarkable incident occurred in the municipality of Allershausen. 17 horses and ponies released from a farm in Laimbach, directly on the A9 motorway. The animals were only 50 meters away from the busy road, which made the situation tricky. The fire brigade Allershausen was immediately alerted to bring the horses back and prevent possible accidents on the highway. Commandant Friedrich Moser made it clear how important this commitment was, since tragic accidents have already happened to horses on the highway. This illustrates that care must be taken into account, especially in such critical places.

Special circumstances led to this incident: Usually the horses keep themselves in the fenced area, but an uncertain access for emergency vehicles was not sufficiently secured, so that the animals escaped. In addition to the fire brigade, the owner of the courtyard area and the tenant family were actively deployed to drive the herd towards the stable. A fire engine was sent to the makeshift access via the highway to keep the animals away while halter were created. It was a nerve -wracking moment when the herd threatened to reverse and flee in the opposite direction. But thanks to the coordinated assignment, the herd could be brought back safely after about an hour without injuring it.

The challenges of the emergency services

Friedrich Moser pointed out that the fire brigade has fewer and fewer active members who are experienced in dealing with animals. This makes every use more demanding, especially since this was not the first incident at this courtyard - the fire brigade has already been called to help three to four times. During the mission, the district road between Allershausen and Leonhardsbuch was also blocked to ensure the security of everyone involved.

fire in the horse van

not far away, also on the A9 motorway, another dramatic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. A horse transporter caught fire. The driver reacted quickly and held on the hard shoulder, which proved to be a life -saving decision. Flames hit the front part of the van when the driver opened the tailgate and freed a 500 kilo. Despite the dangerous situation and the rapidly passing traffic, he managed to easily injure himself and was later treated by the emergency services. The fire brigade was able to delete the fire quickly, but the accident caused an estimated damage of 200,000 euros.

Such incidents are another example of the diverse challenges that animal owners and rescue workers are facing. The efforts of the fire brigade in Allershausen are therefore not only valuable support for the animals, but also an important element of traffic safety along the highly frequented highway. The cooperation between the parties involved and the increased sensitization for such dangers in these cases have made a significant contribution to avoiding worse.
