Maltese elect new board: Changes in the Archdiocese of Munich!

An important step for the Maltese in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising: a new board was elected during the diocesan assembly on November 1, 2025. In a moving meeting, the members looked back on the past challenges and at the same time laid the foundation for the future work of the aid organization.

The choice of the new diocesan leader was Peter Prinz von Lobkowicz, who will now direct the organization's fortunes together with managing director Christoph Friedrich. The newly elected board members, including Marina Albrecht from Traunstein as well as Harald Schwill and Andreas Presuhn, both from Munich city and district, bring a breath of fresh air to the management of the association.

Experienced voices on the board

But familiar faces will also remain in the Maltese community: Tobias Cackó was confirmed in his office as an active helper representative, as was Max Rauecker as a representative of the commissioners. The board is supplemented by other important members: diocesan superior Pilar Princess zu Salm, diocesan youth spokesperson Hannah Stoppe as well as cathedral captain Hans-Georg Platschek and diocesan finance curator Dr. Maximilian Thiel. Medical care is provided by Prof. Dr. Christoph Dodt as diocesan doctor and Prof. Dr. Hermann Sollfrank represents the Diocesan Caritas Association.

The advisors, who do not have the right to vote, also bring a lot of experience with them: In addition to managing director Christoph Friedrich, Maximilian Freiherr von Perfall, Barbara Schick and Agnes Maria Steinmetzer hold management roles. This creates a powerful team that dedicates itself to the important tasks of the Maltese with full commitment.

An overview of the activities of the Maltese

The Maltesers are much more than just an aid organization; they are an integral part of society. Medical protection is offered at events as well as the transport of patients to the emergency room if the emergency services are called. They are also ready to offer help in emergencies, such as floods or pandemics. Special programs include support for older people, for example through food deliveries, emergency buttons or assistance while shopping.

The Maltese work with heart and passion, without taking origin, religion or gender into account. Their approach to charity has secured them a firm place in society for over 950 years. The new board now faces the exciting task of continuing this tradition and making the organization strong and helpful tomorrow.
