Dedicated school helper is looking for support in Freising!

There is movement in Freising – in the truest sense of the word! Ulrike Kugler, who has been working as a school helper for almost three decades, ensures that the city's youngest children get to school safely. She has her permanent place at the busy intersection of Griesfeldstraße/Hohenbachernstraße in Vötting and already knows many children by name. A great commitment that is not only rewarded with an expense allowance, but above all with joy and warmth. Kugler also wants more hands to help with this important task. Anyone who is interested can contact Andrea Andersch from the Office for Public Safety and Order - a good way to get actively involved in the city and at the same time increase the safety of children. Further information can be found on the Freising city website ( freising.de ).

Another highlight coming up in Freising is the awarding of the “Intercultural Prize for Diversity”. This prize, which is endowed with 3,000 euros, is looking for projects that promote the integration of people with a refugee and immigration history. Süddeutsche.de reports that this year the award is particularly aimed at sports clubs and initiatives that promote an inclusive culture in sport. The 2023 motto “Sport connects” makes it clear that community activities can play an important role in integration.

The Intercultural Prize for Diversity

The deadline for applications is October 10, 2025, and in addition to sports clubs, cooperation projects between various initiatives are also invited to submit their concepts. The independent jury, consisting of members of the Migration Council, the community foundation, the city administration and civil society, will choose the winners. Last year the prize went to the Geisenhofer bakery, which is committed to training young people with a refugee and immigrant background.

But it's not just about prizes and awards. The prize stands for a common goal: strengthening urban society and promoting peaceful coexistence. The Freising Migration Council and the Community Foundation have made it their mission to make good practice examples visible and to send a strong signal against exclusion.

Meeting of the Finance and Administration Committee

For anyone interested in municipal issues, please note the next meeting of the Finance and Administration Committee, which will take place on Monday, September 29th at 6 p.m. in the Small Meeting Room of the Town Hall. Well-known topics as well as current reports and inquiries are discussed there, which offers an interesting opportunity for citizens to find out about the city's concerns.

A lot is happening in Freising, and both citizens and initiatives are invited to play an active role. Whether it’s the school journey helper service or the intercultural prize – commitment is valued here!
