Designer dream: Mo Geldhauser opens a sustainable shop in Mühlhausen!

In Mühlhausen there is reason to be happy for all fashion and design lovers. The talented designer Mo Geldhauser has opened her own showroom where she presents her unique creations. Their goal is clear: less consumption and more mindfulness in the fashion sector. She wants to use her products to raise awareness of sustainable clothing and focuses on designs that are not only beautiful, but also leave a smaller ecological footprint. Interestingly, her creations are already being used in well-known restaurants, which further enhances her work and shows that sustainable fashion is very popular. Franconian day reports on this encouraging development.

But that's not all that's happening in Mühlhausen at the moment! With the City Workshop, the city offers an extensive fall and winter program that runs from October 1st to December 29th, 2025. At Steinweg 4, all age groups have the opportunity to take part in various events, exhibitions and hands-on activities. This initiative not only promotes community but also cultural life in the city. Smart City Mulhouse emphasizes that there will be something for every taste - from chess tournaments to digital workshops to creative offerings such as crocheting and knitting.

A look at the program

As part of the city workshop program, visitors can expect the following highlights:

  • Schach-AG des Ammerschen Schachvereins: 7. bis 9. Oktober, 11:00 bis 14:00 Uhr
  • Digital-Lotsen-Projekt: Offene Sprechstunden am 14.10., 04.11., 02.12., von 10:30 bis 11:30 Uhr
  • Workshops zu digitalen Themen: 23.10., 20.11., 18.12., von 17:00 bis 18:00 Uhr
  • „Freiheitsleuchten“: 17. und 18. Oktober, 18:00 bis 23:00 Uhr
  • Probier mal-Tag der VHS: 18. November, 14:30 bis 16:30 Uhr

To ensure a successful cultural exchange, several attractive exhibitions were organized, including the presentation “Mühlhausen in Colors – Pictures of a City” with watercolors by Helmut Wenzel, which is planned for October. A bargain delights working commuters: the Thuringian Agency for Skilled Recruitment (ThAFF) Commuter Day will take place on December 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Sustainable fashion in focus

Amidst this lively activity, the issue of sustainability is becoming increasingly important. The Federal Environment Ministry promotes the development of sustainable fashion and has launched a number of measures. This includes the introduction of the Blue Angel for textiles and the support of sustainable collection and recycling initiatives for used textiles. This helps fashion designer Geldhauser and many other creative minds have a positive influence on the industry.

Sustainability is not a passing trend, but an essential direction for the future of the textile industry. As part of the new EU textile strategy, requirements for durability and reusability are to be set, among other things. This is particularly important in order to minimize the negative environmental impact of conventional fashion production. The designer not only sets standards in her own store, but also contributes to a larger movement in the fashion world.

Mühlhausen stays in tune with the latest developments in fashion and cultural offerings. There is plenty of opportunity to be inspired and become active yourself. We can't wait to see what the coming months will bring!
