In the coming weeks there will be several public holidays in Bavaria dedicated to the volunteer work of the fire departments. There is great anticipation because both the Hochaltingen volunteer fire department, the Mauerkirchen fire department and the Offensen local fire department are celebrating anniversaries that underline the importance of these institutions.
A highlight will be the 150th anniversary of the Hochaltingen Volunteer Fire Department, which will be celebrated on the first weekend in July. Since 2020, various art motifs have been used to mark the anniversary. Spectacular motifs can be admired on the site, including oversized PAC-MAN games and large footprints. The “I LOVE HOLDE” lettering, which occupies a total area of around 800 square meters, attracts particular attention. The letters, each four meters high and three meters wide, were drawn on a tarpaulin at an impressive scale of 1:1 and then creatively designed on site. The preparations took place mainly in a hall in winter and lasted around ten hours before the colors were applied to the meadow in spring to festively introduce the anniversary. Anniversary celebrations in Mauerkirchen and Offensen
But it's not just in Hochaltingen that the celebrations take place. The Mauerkirchen Volunteer Fire Department is also reviving memories of its eventful history on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. After a devastating market fire in 1865, followed by another fire in 1873, the fire department was founded and has since made a name for itself through camaraderie and helpfulness. The anniversary celebration, which begins on September 15th and 16th, 2023 at 4:15 p.m., promises to be an event for the whole family. A ceremony will take place on the market square at 6:45 p.m., at which numerous other fire departments, clubs and guests of honor are also expected. The public is warmly invited to take part in the festival and celebrate the community. Feuerwehr Objective invites you to take part in this special occasion.
Another anniversary is coming up on June 14, 2025 in Offensen. The local volunteer fire brigade will celebrate two milestones here: 90 years of the local fire brigade and 60 years of youth fire brigade, which makes a total of 150 years of voluntary commitment. The celebration will begin at 2 p.m. at the village community center with a variety of program items. From demonstrations of everyday fire service life to a technology and vehicle show, varied entertainment is provided. The little ones don't miss out either: bouncy castles and other games are available. The culinary offering ranges from grilled food to coffee and cake to cocktails. From 8:00 p.m. DJ Sven will provide musical entertainment and invite guests to dance. Admission is free all day, so the Offensen fire department is hoping for numerous visitors from the town and neighboring communities.
