Nursing doll Oskar: A win for Diakonie Donau-Ries!

Did you know that the Oskar nursing doll not only serves as a helpful learning tool, but has now also won 10,000 euros for Diakonie Donau-Ries? The good news is making the rounds and is bringing a breath of fresh air to the training centers in the district. At every Diakonie location, Oskar is used to ask trainees questions and discuss processes in practice rooms without time pressure. The nursing team management, led by Beatrix Meyr-Digeser, is enthusiastic about the innovative idea and its successful implementation. The managing director Johannes Beck is proud of the achievements of the employee who brought Oskar into play and thereby once again proves the high quality of the training. At a ceremony, particular attention was paid to the achievements of Miesbauer, who has been working in nursing since 2002 and has been in charge of outpatient care at Diakonie Donau-Ries since 2019.

A reason to celebrate

As part of the award, Miesbauer was recognized for her responsibility in providing practical instructions and ensuring high-quality training. Beck emphasizes the importance of initiative and professional competence, which enrich work in the nursing sector. The trainees not only have the opportunity to acquire specialist knowledge, but also to take part in realistic exercises that optimally prepare them for their everyday working life.

Another important point is very important to Diakonie Donau-Ries: digital accessibility. The organization aims to continually improve the usability of its website to accommodate all users, especially people with disabilities. The Diakonie Donau-Ries website provides insights into this, where work is being done to ensure full compliance of the website in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Among other things, the OneTap accessibility toolbar helps with this, offering functions such as adjustable text size, contrast settings and full keyboard navigation.

Continuous improvement in focus

Despite our best efforts, it cannot be guaranteed that every part of the website will be completely accessible at all times. The process of accessibility is ongoing and is based on changing technologies and user needs. Feedback from users is welcome at any time and will be processed within 3-5 working days. To ensure that no one is left out on the Internet, alternative access routes are available upon request.

Whether learning with Oskar or constantly improving the digital offerings: Diakonie Donau-Ries shows that it has a good hand when it comes to the training and needs of all people. It remains to be hoped that both the use of nursing dolls and digital efforts will continue to play a great role in Diakonie's everyday life.
