According to a report by the Augsburg General The official business registration statistics from the IHK Schwaben show that the number of business registrations rose to 1,558 in 2024, which corresponds to a remarkable increase of 5.7 percent compared to the previous year. This is the highest value since 2021.
Across Bavarian Swabia, the number of business registrations rose to 14,182 in 2024, which corresponds to a general increase of 0.6 percent. This growth gives reason to hope that, despite economic risks, many people will dare to become self-employed, which will strengthen the business location.
Start-up balance and founder profiles
The founding balance, which reflects the difference between registrations and deregistrations, is particularly informative. In 2024 this was 352, an increase of an impressive 18.5 percent. Although the number of consultations has recently fallen slightly, it is clear that there is particularly keen interest in the service and retail sectors. It is also noteworthy that around 40 percent of these conversations are with female founders, which represents a promising development for the future.
