A day full of joy: animal lovers celebrate in Passbrunn!
On Sunday, June 17, 2025, Passbrunn in the Dingolfing-Landau district was transformed into a colorful meeting place for animal lovers and families. The open day, organized by the Quellenhof team, the Dingolfing-Landau animal protection association and the Anja Wojahn Foundation, attracted numerous visitors and offered a varied program.
At the entrance, the guests were warmly welcomed by Ilona Wojahn, the head of the animal shelter. She used the opportunity to recruit volunteers, especially for looking after shy cats. “Every little bit of help counts,” said Wojahn as she provided information about adopting cats and dogs. Volunteers are often in demand in animal shelters because they offer important support because the permanent animal keepers usually do not have enough time for all tasks. This help helps to give the animals new opportunities for a better home, as the Tierschutzliga emphasizes.
A program full of highlights
The large audience could look forward to a mixture of animal education, dance performances, crafts and culinary delights. The Dingolfing rescue dog team was particularly impressive with its seven trained dogs, some of which come from the animal shelter. In an emergency, the rescue dogs are alerted by the Landshut Integrated Control Center after they have completed a training period of up to three years.
The Rot-Weiß Casino Dingolfing dance sports club, which performed with various groups, provided musical entertainment. A highlight was the first appearance of the hip-hop group “Groovies”. In addition, the jazz acrobatics group “Alima” and the line dancers showed off their skills, while the children’s groups Crazy Devils and Devil Dancers delighted the audience. In the meantime, the little visitors were able to spin the wheel of fortune, try their luck in a tombola and make creative animal masks and butterfly pictures.
Treats and good deeds
Physical well-being was also taken care of: a cake buffet full of donations and hearty food made the day even more inviting. All proceeds from the event go directly to the animal shelter, with visitors not only having fun with every bite and every win, but also doing something good at the same time.
With their committed activities and the diverse offerings, the open day in Passbrunn was a complete success. The visitors were not only able to enjoy an entertaining day, but also actively contribute to supporting animal education and animal protection. It is hoped that the event will continue to appeal to many animal-loving people, giving a voice to animals in need and helping them find a better life.
