Four new rescuers for Dillingen: THW helpers pass the test with flying colors!

Things are getting busy in Dillingen: Four new emergency services from the Technical Relief Agency (THW) have successfully passed their basic training exam. The examinees, Mirjam Reiser, Julia Mayer, Kevin Starke and Tim Seeger, gained experience in the THW Roth local branch last Saturday and confirmed their skills. At 5:30 a.m. the group set off for the exam, which marks an important milestone in their volunteer careers. A total of 28 graduates from the Ingolstadt regional office took part, which shows that interest in the THW is high.

The exam day began at 8 a.m. with the theoretical part, which introduced the future helpers to the basics of THW, the safety regulations and the operational procedures. After the knowledge was tested, the practical part awaited the candidates. Here they had to demonstrate, among other things, how to use various knotting techniques, how to set up a ladder correctly and how to use equipment such as cut-off machines, scissors and spreaders. They were also instructed in the operation of a pump, a generator set and the multi-purpose train. Teamwork and precise work were particularly required.

The importance of basic training

The basic training at THW is not just a formal hurdle, but the foundation on which the helpers' future careers are built. The aim of this first level of training is to impart general knowledge about disaster control in Germany and Europe. You will also be taught how to use the special THW tools and equipment so that you can use them nationwide. After completing basic training, the helpers can specialize further in various specialist groups. Around 2,000 volunteers take part in this training every year, which takes place every Saturday in the local branches, which enables excellent compatibility with school, studies or work. Another factor that makes basic training so valuable is the possibility of completing it in an adapted form if you have physical limitations, such as the official THW website can be removed.

The demanding test ended in the afternoon at around 4 p.m. Platoon leader Lukas Firnigl presented the helper badges in Dillingen and warmly welcomed the new members to the team. The support of THW Roth, as well as the examiners and trainers who assisted the examinees in their preparations was also acknowledged.

A look into the future

With this successful basic training, Mirjam, Julia, Kevin and Tim are well prepared to support THW Dillingen. The training not only offers important knowledge, but also strengthens the shared commitment to society. The new emergency services are not only ready, but are looking forward to the upcoming challenges that volunteer work brings with it. The THW not only ensures security, but also helps to strengthen communities Information from the Ingolstadt local association is supported.
