Cycling with the mayor: discovering the chapels around Moos!

What could be nicer than cycling through the Bavarian countryside in bright sunshine? That's exactly what around 30 cyclists who recently took part in the “Cycling with the Mayor” event, organized by the Free Voters Moos, thought. Mayor Alexander Zacher, who has been at the head of the municipality since 2020, led the group on a chapel tour around Moos.

Participants ranged in age and gathered to explore the impressive architecture and history of seven of nine chapels in the community. Zacher, who was significantly involved in the new construction of the Altschäfl Chapel, informed the cyclists about the land consolidation chapel in Forstern and the Altschäfl Chapel, which represent an important part of the region's cultural heritage.

A tour full of stories

The chapels are not only architectural masterpieces, but also places for reflection and rest. The initiative of the Siegfried and Elfriede Denzel Foundation highlights that each of these chapels is thanks to a renowned architect. The tour has not only historical relevance, but also landscape relevance; Along the way, cyclists get a view of the picturesque small towns of Wertingen and Gundelfingen and the Maria Medingen monastery complex.

The circular route was specially designed to invite cyclists to take a short break and enjoy nature to the fullest. Not only can you visit the beautiful chapels, but you can also use the Kneipp facilities and swimming lakes to cool off on hot days.

A strong team in community politics

The Free Voters Moos have celebrated significant successes since their founding in 2020 by gaining a local council seat. They currently have six local councilors and Alexander Zacher, the first mayor, who is also a member of various committees, including the building and environmental committee and the Moos-Thundorf school association.

The community is proud of its political commitment, which is reflected not only in the administration, but also in numerous cultural offerings such as the chapel tour. Hans Jäger, who was mayor from 2002 to 2020, and Dr. Winfried Speer, who has been active for many years and has had a decisive influence on the community.

Thanks to the commitment of the Free Voters and the positive development under Mayor Zacher, citizens have the opportunity to actively participate in their community and experience the beauty of their surroundings. The “Cycling with the Mayor” event is a step in the right direction to bring citizens and communities even closer together.
