The Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture has big news for students in Bavaria. From now on, young people who want to go abroad for a whole year can apply for one of 15 “Ambassador of Bavaria” scholarships. The Kurier Dachau reports that applications for the 2026/27 school year have already been opened.
This scholarship-based program is aimed at students who were born between July 1, 2008 and July 31, 2011, live in Bavaria and attend a Bavarian school. The scholarships are primarily designed to cover a significant portion of the program fee for the planned stay. This makes the dream of a school year abroad more tangible for many young people.
A year away
The selection of target countries for the coming school year is broad. Young people can look forward to adventures in countries such as Brazil, Bulgaria, China, France, India, Ireland, Poland, Romania, South Africa, the Czech Republic and Hungary. This program is organized by the organization Youth For Understanding (YFU), which also acts as a cooperation partner of the Bavarian Ministry of Culture. But that's not all: the funding was increased by 100 percent for the school years 2024/2025 and 2025/2026. This means that in the future up to 30 students will have the opportunity to take part in this valuable exchange, as the Youth Exchange Bavaria informs.
