Seven volunteers from Coburg receive certificates of gratitude for their commitment
In the Coburg district, a total of seven municipal certificates of gratitude were awarded on Tuesday evening in the “House of Regional Development”. This award is presented by the State Ministry of the Interior, Sport and Integration in Bavaria to recognize the commitment of active citizens. District Administrator Sebastian Straubel emphasized the importance of local self-government and was pleased about the diverse voluntary work in the region. This event highlights how important voluntary work is for the local social fabric.
The distinguished personalities include Christian Gunsenheimer from Schlettach, a former local councilor and mayor of Weitramsdorf, as well as Marco Steiner, currently mayor of Rödental and a long-time city councilor. The local supervisors from the communities of Boderndorf, Thann, Kemmaten, Birkig and Haarbrücken were also recognized. Particularly worth mentioning is Gerhard Baudler, who held the longest term as local supervisor with almost 46 years.
Volunteering: An important building block of the community
What exactly constitutes volunteering? The terms “volunteering”, “voluntary work” and “volunteer work” are often used as synonyms. There is no exact scientific definition. What is certain, however, is that these are unpaid tasks with social or political significance. These activities are not to be equated with professional practice or leisure activities. Volunteering is an essential part of the municipal structures that municipalities and cities rely on.
Further attention was paid to the tradition of regular citizens' meetings in Neustadt, which act as a platform for exchange between citizens and local officials. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity for citizens to voice their concerns directly, thereby increasing trust within the community.
Importance of community volunteer positions
Forward-thinking politics not only pursues the objectives of the state constitution, which emphasizes the importance of volunteer work, but goes beyond that. It is also pointed out how important volunteer positions provide those who take on democratic responsibility. This is not just a personal task, but a legal mandate that motivates citizens to take on such positions. Time and again, it is the committed personalities who keep the communities running and make a decisive contribution to the quality of life in their home towns.
District Administrator Sebastian Straubel was impressed by the variety of activities and the tireless commitment of the honorees. These certificates of gratitude are not only a recognition, but also an invitation to other citizens to get involved on a voluntary basis. Because with every effort, the common good is strengthened and the community is brought together. The award to these seven personalities sends a strong signal: Voluntary work is very popular and important for the future of all communities in the Coburg district.
