HSC 2000 Coburg and Brewery Leikeim: the end of an era!

The HSC 2000 Coburg and the traditional Lekeim brewery end their long -term cooperation after the 2024/25 season. This decision marks the end of a fertile partnership that existed since the foundation of the association in 2000. The brewery, founded in Altenkunstadt in 1887, has acted as a reliable sponsor over the years and supported the association significantly. Jan Gorr, the coach of the HSC 2000, praised the trusting and family cooperation in a statement, which gave two sides so much fun. "It was more than just a partnership," said Gorr, who thanked Leikeim for the time together.

The Leikeim brewery is not only famous for its known beer, but also for its deep roots in the region and the family structure that remains in the fifth generation. Andreas Lekeim, an immediate descendant of the founder, emphasized the shared experiences and spoke to the HSC 2000 Coburg all the best for the future. "We remain part of the Coburg handball story," said the master brewer, who appreciated the emotional highlights and the unforgettable moments that have been experienced together.

New course for the HSC 2000

The HSC 2000 Coburg plans to take new ways. The association has already made a proper climb after it has emerged from several regional handball departments. Particularly noteworthy is the immediate rise to the regional league and, last but not least, the successes that were achieved with the championships. The construction of its own arena in Coburg in 2007 represents another milestone in the club's history that paved the way into the highest leagues of handball. With two championship titles in the first division, the HSC 2000 Coburg showed that it is very popular in German handball and can record it with the best clubs.

In recent years, the association has received considerable tailwind from strong regional sponsors and a loyal fan base. Cooperation with Leikeim contributed a lot to the firmly rooted identity of the association. This identity and the growing support from the fans are now required to expand the catchment area in the coming time and to land new sponsors.

A look at handball history

The handball itself has a long and eventful story that goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. Among other things, Dänen Holger Nielsen set up the first set of handball in 1906. Sport developed from various ball games, and after recognition as an official game for men and women, handball quickly gained popularity. Sport has been a fixture in the international sports landscape, especially since the admission to the Olympic Games.

From the initial field handball games to indoor handball that was created in the Scandinavian countries, the development of handball shows how dynamic and adaptable this sport is. The HSC 2000 Coburg is in a proud tradition and can look back on impressive development. The support of the regional population and the passion for sport are decisive factors that have made the club what it is today.
