Fire in the basement: 30 residents from Nuremberg Katzwang evacuated
In the night from Friday to Saturday, around 00:50 a.m., a violent basement fire broke out in an uninhabitable building in Nuremberg's district of Katzwang. Around 30 residents had to be evacuated after the alarm had been received via the integrated control center and the police arrived at the police.
The fire brigade of the Nuremberg and Katzwang fire brigade reacted at lightning speed and were able to quickly control and extinguish the flames. Two people had to be treated on site for breathing difficulties. Since the fire damaged critical supply lines, the building is uninhabitable until the necessary repairs are carried out. As a result, 15 of the evacuated residents were accommodated in an emergency accommodation. In the meantime, the specialist commissioner of the Nuremberg Criminal Police has started the cause of the fire, whereby the estimated damage has already reached several tens of thousands of euros.
