Greetings at a Bayreuth pizzeria: police are looking for witnesses!
An unpleasant incident on Maximilianstrasse in Bayreuth has shaken up the minds of residents. Between Thursday, November 20th, 8 p.m. and Friday, November 21st, 11:50 a.m., unknown perpetrators smeared the entrance doors of a pizzeria with the words “White lives matter” in white felt-tip pen. The estimated property damage is around 100 euros, like that Bayreuther Tagblatt reported. The Bayreuth City Police Department documented the incident, while the Bayreuth Criminal Investigation Department took over the further investigation. Witnesses who have relevant information about the perpetrators are asked to contact the criminal police on 0921/506-0.
This event is not isolated; it reflects an increasingly worrying trend in crime statistics. According to the Police Crime Statistics (PKS) from the Federal Criminal Police Office, there was a decrease in overall crime by 1.7% to around 5.84 million cases in 2024. Nevertheless, it appears that the number of crimes that affect people's sense of security continues to increase. Crime figures are particularly high in Bavaria, which unsettles residents. That's a trend Statista holds on.
A recurring problem
The pizzeria graffiti is a clear expression of a problem that affects many cities. Such acts not only put a strain on the businesses affected, but also create a tense climate in the neighborhood. Despite a slight decrease in the number of crimes recorded overall, it can be observed that attacks on personal freedom or vandalism are showing fluctuations and are causing concern. Among the crimes most affected in 2024, what stands out is the increase in brutality crimes, which cast a shadow over social security.
A look at the detailed statistics shows that the most common crimes in Germany – these are thefts, property crimes and forgery crimes. The clearance rate in 2024 will be 58%, which means that almost 6 out of 10 crimes can be solved. But how does such a situation come about? The number of unreported crimes remains a major issue, as many crimes are not even reported the Bavarian police notes.
The Bayreuth pizzeria now relies on the public's help to locate the perpetrators and restore confidence in the city's safety. Witnesses or whistleblowers are cordially invited to come forward and thus make an important contribution to crime prevention. The protection of communities and businesses should be older and synonymous with healthy coexistence, because only together can we take action against acts of vandalism and similar offenses.
