Bayreuth innovative: Experience future ideas in the city park!

The event "Bayreuth innovative" will take place on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 in Bayreuth city center. From 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. everything revolves around the motto "Mission Innovation - Fit for the Future". The organizers of this exciting day are the University of Bayreuth, the city of Bayreuth, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Upper Franconia Bayreuth and the Chamber of Crafts in Upper Franconia. The aim of the event is to promote the exchange between science, business and society and to make the region's innovative strength visible. This is made possible by the presentation of modern research results as well as the participation of regional companies and start-ups. Bayreuther Tagblatt reports that the volunteer fire brigade and the youth fire brigade will also be on site to present its important work and equipment.

The event promises an interactive program that includes technology games, experiments, 3D printing and even virtual reality exercises. A highlight will be the smoothie bike on which fresh smoothies can be prepared. In particular, the six “innovation labs” of the University of Bayreuth are the focus of this event and show current projects that should actively involve visitors. If you are interested in career opportunities, you can also find out about job offers at the university, which is one of the largest employers in the region with around 2,700 employees.

innovative labs to try out

What exactly can guests expect in the innovation labs? Here is a brief overview:

  • Digital Technologies Lab : There are virtual reality experiments for equilibrium training.
  • Game Innovation Lab : Use of games for research and innovation with interactive stations, including a retro play machine.
  • Keylab Additive Innovations : Insight into the world of 3D printing, even with a basketball challenge in which a 3D printed ball is used.

This exchange between the different actors is of great importance, not only for the event itself, but also for the long -term innovative strength of the region. According to the "Innovative University" initiative, the federal government, together with the federal states, promotes the implementation of such projects and the contact between universities and the economy. This contributes to the creation of creative solutions for social challenges and enables sustainable development in the region in accordance with the requirements of the funding initiative, which includes a total volume of up to 550 million euros from 2018 to 2027 BMBF.

a festival for the whole family
