Squad planning at FC Bayern Munich is entering the hot phase. After the surprising rejection of Florian Wirtz, who decided to move to Liverpool, sports boss Max Eberl is in a fix. It is urgent to find an alternative to reorganize the offensive line for the coming season. Sport Bild reports that income must first be generated to finance the transfers.
Christopher Nkunku (27) is considered a hot candidate for a new addition. The former RB Leipzig star is set for a move from Chelsea despite being tied down until 2029. However, there could be an opportunity to sign Nkunku below market value, as his current value is around €35 million.
An exciting selection of names
But Nkunku is not the only player on Eberl's list. Ritsu Doan (26), who impressed with strong performances at SC Freiburg, is also being discussed. However, after Wirtz's rejection, he is considered “too small” for the Bayern squad. An expensive option that is in the room is Nico Williams (Athletic Club). After a meeting between Eberl and Williams' representatives, he is considered the main target as his release clause is around 60 million euros. In addition, his annual salary is estimated at between 15 and 20 million euros, which poses a financial challenge for Bavaria. Yahoo Sports highlights that Bayern are also eyeing other high-profile players such as Bradley Barcola (PSG) and Rafael Leão (AC Milan), with interest in players such as Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton) and Cody Gakpo (Liverpool) has subsided.
In the discussion about squad changes, potential departures must also be taken into account. Leroy Sané is in negotiations with Galatasaray and a move to Turkey seems likely. Kingsley Coman (28) is also one of the sales candidates. João Palhinha (29), Raphaël Guerreiro (31), Minjae Kim (28), Sacha Boey (24) and Bryan Zaragoza (23) are also considered possible departures. This leaves Eberl under pressure to not only acquire new players, but also to realign the team accordingly.
