Menopause in focus: Reading with bestselling author Miriam Stein in Bamberg!
A special event is coming up: On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, a reading by the author Miriam Stein will take place in Bamberg. The event, which begins at 7 p.m. at LUI ONE, Luitpoldstraße 53, is organized by the Health Region plus Bamberg as well as the equal opportunities offices of the city and district of Bamberg and the Bamberg City and Country Adult Education Centers. Bamberg my city reports that the reading from Stein's bestseller "The Irritable Woman - What our society has to do with my menopause" takes place.
In her book, Miriam Stein addresses the challenges and social prejudices that women face during menopause. She combines personal experiences with extensive journalistic research and offers a socio-political analysis that illuminates the topics of aging and self-confidence in a powerful way. The aim of the event is to enable an open discussion about menopause and to remove taboos from the topic. Admission is free and those interested are asked to register via the vhs Bamberg-Land website. If you have any questions, participants can contact the organization team at 0951 85-651 or via email at praevention@lra-ba.bayern.de.
The social context
Miriam Stein’s reading couldn’t be more relevant. Discussing menopause is an important part of women's understanding and self-acceptance during this phase of life. In a society where the old clichés about getting older often still prevail, Stein provides a significant impulse. Her aim is to encourage women to deal with their experiences and to talk openly about their feelings and physicality.
It's no secret that discussing such personal topics is often characterized by shyness. Miriam Stein would like to help women feel less like they have to be pushed into a role of invisibility. Rather, they should be heard as valuable voices within society, in a dialogue about age, gender and social standards.
The organizers and the local commitment
The commitment of the health region plus Bamberg and the equality bodies underlines how important this topic is for the communities. These partners bring resources and commitment to support an event that goes far beyond a simple reading. It promotes exchange and understanding in an often overlooked and misunderstood phase of life.
Bamberg shows that there are not only great cultural events, but also space for education and community dialogue. It's time to talk about topics that often remain behind closed doors - and Miriam Stein is the right person to talk to.
