Digital future to touch: Smart week inspires Bamberg-Ost!
Bamberg, Deutschland - In Bamberg-Ost the second smart week took place recently, which the organization Smart City Bamberg Tivolischlösschen was held. The five -day event offered the residents the opportunity to experience digitization up close and to find out about current projects.
Although the weather did not play at the beginning, around 25 participants came to the opening on June 23 to the lectures by Dr. Stefan Goller, the speaker for economy, participations and digitization, as well as program manager Sascha Götz. These explained the advantages and possibilities of the Smart City program, which aims to increase the quality of life of the Bamberg citizens.
Various offers for all age groups
A highlight of the week was the idea of a wide range of projects such as the Bamberg app, the digital twin and the innovative drone project Bakim. The latter aims to collect information about the trees by means of drones and artificial intelligence, which is developed in cooperation with the University of Bamberg.
There were specially tailored workshops for young visitors. Here the children were able to create animated figures with AI or test their manual skills when soldering supporters with LEDs. And less digital-affine visitors were also taken care of: In the generation café, interested parties were able to exchange ideas about digital topics and learn more about the "Fit in the head" format.
A workshop at the University of Bamberg also highlighted the numerous data protection regulations that apply to digital applications. In a discussion round, the project "Support for People with Dementia" was discussed in order to draw attention to the special needs of this group. A panel discussion aimed at the challenges and opportunities of digital dependence, led by experts in this field.

On the last day of the smart week, a neighborhood festival took place in the Löwenzahn family meeting. Here, both children and adults were invited to actively participate in the diverse activities and to discuss the newly gained knowledge in the community. The event recorded a total of around 200 participants who wanted to take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the digital future of Bamberg.
The next smart week in Bamberg is already planned for the period from October 20 to 24 in Gereuth-Wunderburg. Here the city counts on the support of the citizens in order to put the many exciting ideas and projects into practice from the first phase and further improve the quality of life.
