Bamberg starts smart dementia project: Help in the Sancurapark!

Bamberg, Deutschland - in Bamberg something is happening! The Sancurapark is developed on the Lagarde campus, a modern dementia center that should enable residents more self-determination and freedom of movement. The goal here: security for the dementia and at the same time the opportunity to move without fear. According to Wiesentbote is developed that volunteers are informed if residents leave the dementia center too far.

The use of volunteers plays a central role in this project. These helpers are supposed to help disoriented dementia patients who have been walking. "Every move counts", it says in the discussions - a good example of a joint coexistence in the city. In order to meet the needs of the volunteers and the app, group calls are scheduled.

group discussions offer space for suggestions

These important discussions take place on the following dates: on June 17th at 5:30 p.m., on June 18 at 10:00 a.m. and on June 25th at 5:00 p.m. Interested parties are cordially invited to register by email or phone. And if you can't do the dates mentioned, you do not have to shy away from: alternative appointments can also be requested. The participation in this innovative project does not remain unnoticed - the possibility of forwarding the invitation to friends and acquaintances is another step towards an active community.

According to the German Alzheimer's Society, around 1.84 million people with dementia live in Germany. These often suffer from memory and orientation problems as well as changes in personality. It is the responsibility and also in the interest of society to support these people as best as possible.

a pilot project in a smart city

A similar effort is also shown in Forst, where the project "Support for People with Dementia" is promoted. Here a dementia -oriented infrastructure is created in order to enable those affected to become a longer independence in their own living environment without isolating them. More than 1.7 million people live in Germany with dementia. The statistics show that around 330,000 new dementia cases are added annually, a serious topic that concerns us all.

The city of Forst has set off together with several partners such as the Lausitz Klinik and Forster Housing Building Society. A close networking in health, social and cultural areas is to create a stable support horizon. The experience of the partners in the care of older people will be extremely valuable to increase the quality of life of those affected. Further information on this exciting project can be found on smartcityforst.de .

Developments in Bamberg and Forst show that it is going to go in many places when it comes to fulfilling the needs of dementia. It remains exciting to observe how these projects will develop and which new solutions will be created in the next few years.
