Investment fraud in the Lichtenfels district: 65-year-old loses 25,000 euros!
Investment fraudsters defrauded a 65-year-old from the Lichtenfels district of a whopping 25,000 euros! At the beginning of August, the Coburg criminal police arrested a 19-year-old Ukrainian who is said to have acted as a money collector for the fraudulent platform operators. The horror began when the victim came across a tempting ad for lucrative cryptocurrency investments online and left his contact details.
After an initial investment of just €250, the man was convinced to increase his deposit to a dramatic €25,000. Instead of the payout he was promised, the crooks demanded an additional “fee” of 22,000 euros for the return of alleged winnings. Becoming suspicious, the injured party filed a report, which led to the fraudster's arrest, while he was caught red-handed during a planned money collection appointment. The suspect is now in custody for attempted commercial and gang fraud. The investigation into those behind it continues!
