FC Augsburg brings Elversberg captain Robin Fellhauer for the Bundesliga!
FC Augsburg has made a real catch! As the club has officially announced, Robin Fellhauer, the captain of SV Elversberg, will be on the pitch for the Fuggerstadt team in the future. The 27-year-old center player already attracted attention with strong performances last season and will now start a new chapter in his career.
With a contract until June 30, 2029, Fellhauer is valued not only as a flexible player, but also as someone who can play in both midfield and defense. Last season he scored seven goals and provided four assists in 28 competitive games. Particularly noteworthy was his goal in the relegation second leg against 1. FC Heidenheim, which provided a breath of fresh air. FC Augsburg managing director Michael Ströll describes the new signing as strong in running and tackling and emphasizes his offensive qualities.
A promising change
The move to Augsburg comes with an exit clause of 700,000 euros. Despite this sum, there is great joy about the new player, because Fellhauer has established himself as an indispensable player during his time at Elversberg. He played a total of 178 games there in six years. Unlike many footballers, Fellhauer has not yet played a single Bundesliga game, which makes him all the more motivated to gain a foothold in the top German league. “Playing in the Bundesliga was always my goal,” he said about the new challenge.
Fellhauer was born in Mannheim and went through the youth academies of 1. FC Saarbrücken and SC Freiburg. He can look back on a solid education and already has experience from several international matches for Germany.
Changes in the club
FC Augsburg has also made some changes to its sporting management. After the dismissal of coach Jess Thorup and sports director Marking Jurendic, a new coach, Sandro Wagner, was hired. Beni Weber, former Chelsea analyst, will be active in the sports directorate. The return of Manuel Baum and the signing of Julian Baumgartlinger and Marc Lettau, the former sports director of VfL Bochum, also promise a breath of fresh air in the team. These restructuring measures are intended not only to promote sporting performance, but also to open a new chapter in the club.
With his shirt number 19, Fellhauer will now be part of an exciting era at FCA and it will be interesting to see what impulses he will provide in the coming Bundesliga season.
