Augsburg stops Roosters: bitter defeat despite fighting performance!

An exciting match day for the Iserlohn Roosters unfortunately ended with a defeat against the Augsburger Panthers on November 30, 2025. After two previous wins against teams from Dresden and Munich, expectations were high, but Augsburg proved to be a stubborn opponent and sent the Roosters home with a 1-4 defeat.

The start of the game was promising. Iserlohn started offensively and showed commitment right from the start. Salsten had a good chance when he narrowly missed a “baseball goal” after an assist from Napravnik. But after just 2 minutes and 30 seconds, the Panthers took the lead through Louis. However, Iserlohn was undeterred and equalized with a goal from Jentzsch in the power play. Despite the team's committed performance, Iserlohn was unable to exploit its superiority in the first third - the first half of the game ended with a 1-1 draw.

The second half of the game

The Iserlohn Roosters were supposed to improve in the second third, but Augsburg got back to winning ways after just 1:39 minutes when Blank scored another goal. Iserlohn was active and had several periods of pressure, but the assists and shots were not precise enough to crack Augsburg's defense. However, Jenike in the Roosters goal confidently saved some solo attempts.

Towards the end of the game, Damiani made it 3-1 for Augsburg, while Schemitsch's empty-net goal shortly before the end made the final score 1-4. What was particularly remarkable was that despite the defeat, the Roosters showed a lot of commitment and team spirit, but were unable to take advantage of the decisive opportunities.

Statistics and changes

The Iserlohn team had to accept some changes: Erkamps played in defense instead of Lassen, while Jenike replaced Hane in goal. The statistics of the game show that Iserlohn had more chances, but was unable to score any power play goals. In the end, there were a total of 8 penalties on the Roosters side and 6 on the Augsburg side, which shows the intensity of the game. Augsburg were missing T.J. Trevelyan and Fabizio Pilu due to injuries, which has increased the challenges for both teams.

With this defeat, Iserlohn remains behind Dresden in the rankings and must now concentrate on upcoming games to improve their position. Although the team could not achieve the desired success in this game, the belief in its own strengths that were shown in the previous games remains.

For the stat-loving fans, it's interesting to note that hockey statistics cover many aspects of the game, from goals and assists to penalties and shots on goal. In this game, the Roosters were required to increase their shooting efficiency in order to stay connected in the table.
