New Bachelor in Social Work: Practical training in Aschaffenburg!

On June 24, 2025, an important step in the state's academic landscape was announced in Aschaffenburg. The Technical University (TH) Aschaffenburg and the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) have signed a cooperation agreement that seals the introduction of a new bachelor's degree program in “Social Work” in the winter semester of 2025/26. This gives young people the opportunity to receive practical training with valuable insights into various social areas.

Students have the opportunity to choose a particularly practice-oriented option that includes intensified internships during the semester break. This option offers aspiring professionals the opportunity to gain practical experience in areas such as child and youth welfare, senior care and hospice support. This provides them with a bridge to professional practice right at the start of their training.

A permanent place in the social sphere

Anyone interested in this innovative field of study must apply for an employment contract with the BRK after admission. The contract between the TH Aschaffenburg and the BRK was signed by Dennis Kempel, the managing director of the BRK district association Aschaffenburg, and Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Beck-Meuth, the President of the TH, signed. Also present at the handover ceremony were Dr. Alexander Legler, the district administrator of the Aschaffenburg district and chairwoman of the BRK, as well as Prof. Dr. Lena Agel, the founding dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Affairs, was present.

The application deadline for a study place ends on July 15, 2025. Those interested should hurry up so as not to miss this promising opportunity.

Further expansions of the TH Aschaffenburg

However, the TH Aschaffenburg's offering is not only enriched by the new bachelor's degree program in “Social Work”. How th-ab.de reported, a bachelor's degree program in business psychology started in the winter semester of 2021/22. In response to the high demand from students, a master's degree program in this field is now being introduced. Graduates should have the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge at master's level and, in a further step, to achieve a doctorate in science.

The focus of the new master's degree program is on personnel and organization as well as market research and marketing. This also shows that the TH Aschaffenburg has a good knack for expanding educational opportunities for the region and meeting the needs of the labor market.
