SV Inter Amberg is looking for a new coach after a losing streak!
A difficult phase for SV Inter Bergsteig Amberg: The team has been waiting for a win in the District League North for five games and recently had to give up in the games against Tännesberg and Vohenstrauß without scoring their own goal. With just 14 points from 16 games, the team slipped into the relegation zone. Against this background, the club's board has now ended the collaboration with the player-coaches Julian Ceesay (36) and Helmut Jurek (37). fupa.net reports.
The decision was announced on Sunday evening after Ceesay and Jurek expressed their desire to separate immediately. Before Thursday's training, the two coaches said goodbye to the team and left a mixed feeling. Jurek took over the helm in the summer of 2021 and led the team to the 2023 district league championship and relegation in the North District League. Ceesay, on the other hand, only moved from DJK Gibbach to Amberg in 2023 and became player-coach a year later.
An injured striker becomes interim coach
As is often the case with such changes, gratitude for the long time that Jurek and Ceesay have dedicated to the club was evident. Both coaches want to continue to be loyal to SV Inter Bergsteig as spectators and fans. Jurek himself commented objectively on the separation and sees the decision as understandable. He looks back on a positive time and hopes that things will get better for the team soon.
During the transition period, Stefan Meisel (39), a long-term injured striker, will take over as interim coach. When asked what happens next, discussions have already been initiated with possible successors for the coaching position. The club is optimistic that a long-term solution can be presented before the winter break.
Change of coach in other clubs
Such changes can often bring a breath of fresh air into the team, but in Amberg the question remains as to how quickly a solution can be found to the ongoing sporting problems. We can only hope that SV Inter Bergsteig Amberg will turn things around soon – the fans keep their fingers crossed!
