Small wind power professionals: Children build their own wind turbines in Amberg!

Last Wednesday, June 11, 2025, curious children aged five to ten years of researching the possibilities of wind energy in the energy competence center of Stadtwerke Amberg. The event entitled "The power of the wind - build your own wind turbine!" was organized by Digimintkids e.V. in cooperation with the Amberg Stadtwerke. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the small participants were not only allowed to learn a lot of interesting facts about the wind power, but were also able to actively participate in a creative handicraft project.

The children received an introduction to the functioning of wind turbines and the generation of electricity from wind. A tour of the energy competence center also gave them insights into the use of wind energy and the role of renewable energies today. Brigitte Netta, chair of Digimintkids e.V., emphasized the positive response of the children after the event and emphasized how important such programs are for the technical understanding and environmental awareness of the youngest. Elena Lasser, the project manager, was also pleased about the continuing enthusiasm that the children showed during these activities.

Learning playfully with wind energy
