Organ music in Amberg: 14th season with international stars starts!
Organ music in Amberg is in season again! The 14th edition of the Amberg organ music series begins on July 5, 2025 in the Amberg school church. The concert series is very popular and is an integral part of the cultural landscape in the region. Every Saturday at 12 p.m., visitors are invited to enjoy 30 minutes of beautiful organ music while the hustle and bustle of everyday life is forgotten for a brief moment. This also explains the motto of the series: “Pause for a moment and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life with 30 minutes of organ music in the school church.”
The opening event will be very special: On the first Saturday, Thomas Prechtl and Anna Doering on two clarinets and Vinzenz Doering on the organ will play works by great composers such as Bach, Mozart, Dvořák, Mangani and Lefébure-Wély. The concert series includes a total of 12 events that will take place until September 20th. Amberg treated itself to a real treat for the opening event.
Renowned artists and diverse programs
The concerts not only offer organ sounds, but also a colorful mix of other solo instruments. Two bassoons will be used over the course of the season, which will enrich the final concert. Admission to all concerts is free, but the organizers welcome donations. These go to the association “Project Orgel St. Martin e.V.” to who is committed to purchasing a sonorous organ for the Gothic hall church of St. Martin.
The organizers of the series are the cultural department of the city of Amberg, the Project Orgel St. Martin association and the parish. The whole thing is supported by VR-Bank Amberg-Sulzbach eG, which made an important contribution to the financing. So if you want to do something for the culture in Amberg, you've come to the right place!
