Road renovation: B 22 closed between Wieselrieth and Leuchtenberg!

From the first days of September it will be properly rebuilt on federal highway 22 between Leuchtenberg and Bernrieth. The Amberg-Sulzbach State Building Authority has included the renewal of the roadway in its planning, which extends over almost four kilometers. This measure also includes strengthening the roadway and improving drainage facilities. A project with a price of around 2.5 million euros, financed by the federal government. The work is of great importance for road users, especially commuters who often rely on this route.

From Monday, August 25th, the Leuchtenberg junction on the A6 motorway will be completely closed. As oberpfalz24.de reports, the ramps at the junction are also affected by the renovation. This will be carried out in the first construction phase, which is expected to last until around mid-September. The diversions are precisely regulated: commuters have to take the district roads NEW 41 and NEW 40, from Leuchtenberg via Lerau, Vohenstrauß and Böhmischbruck to Tännesberg and back.

Detours and traffic disruptions

The complete closure of the B 22 between Wieselrieth and Bernrieth will come into force immediately at the start of the renovation on September 1st. Traffic diversions will be announced in good time. Particularly affected road users are commuters who have previously used the A 6 and B 22 for their daily journeys. According to the building authority, it is advisable to avoid the affected streets as much as possible during the construction period.

The diversion routes will be signposted as early as possible to ensure traffic flow as best as possible. The diversions to the A 6 should be taken via the Vohenstrauß-West junction towards Weiden and Vohenstrauß-Ost towards Cham.

Construction phase and finally further measures

The first phase of construction will not be the last. After its completion, there will be another full closure between Leuchtenberg and Wieselrieth. This means everyone can prepare for the fact that future journeys on these routes will not be without restrictions. Those responsible are convinced that the extensive renovation work is necessary and will increase traffic flow and safety in the long term.

The diversion plans can be viewed on the building authority's website: www.stbaas.bayern.de. The structural and building authorities are well aware that the upcoming work will cause inconveniences, but are counting on the understanding and patience of residents and commuters.
