Successful flute training: Brass band St. Aegidius delights children!

What could be nicer than celebrating young talents in brass music? The St. Agidius brass band in Schmidmühlen recently gave a final concert that impressively focused on the successes of its flute class. Under the direction of the dedicated instructor Ilona Reheis, the children of the first and second class have achieved their training goal and impressively demonstrated their progress. Mittelbayerische Musicians presented with a lot of vigor.

The audience enjoyed-there is joy-melodies from the history of Pippi Longstocking and other popular pieces such as "Breathless" (supported by a sound box) and the catchy tune "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". Of course, folk songs such as "All my ducklers" and "Hansel and Gretl" were also not to be missed. 2. Chairman Alexander Böhm did not miss the opportunity to thank Ilona Reheis for her tireless efforts, patience and the excellent organization of the training.

a proven cultural carrier

The St. Agidius brass band itself can look back on over 40 years of successful work and has established itself in Schmidmühlen as an important cultural carrier. She regularly marches at pageants and designs services in the parish. Her musical training for children and adolescents is always the focus. The rehearsals can be found on Fridays, with young people and late starters from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the main orchestra from 7:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. The chapel gives concerts both on Easter Monday and on the second Christmas day and organizes a summer series on the market square in Schmidmühlen every two years.

The repertoire range of this brass band is impressive. There is something for every taste from modern compositions to classics of brass music culture to melodies from current films and musicals.

The chapel also offers reduced occupations for smaller celebrations that often "unplugged" musically create the mood. The brass band plays traditional brass music on fixed stages and in beer tents, but also hits, rock and pop are not neglected here.

A look into the future

ilona Reheis hopes that many children will come back to the brass band after the holidays to pass on the joy of making music. In the coming school year 2025/2026, a new recorder training is planned to open the door to a musical career to the young musicians. Who knows, maybe we will soon see the next stars of the St. Aegidius brass band on stage!
