Large fire brigade operation: room fire in Burghausen causes extensive damage
A room fire in Zündhölzlberg in Burghausen kept the fire department on tenterhooks on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The alarm was triggered around 1:00 p.m. after the residents of a house on a difficult-to-access hillside discovered smoke and immediately alerted the fire department. The ~Burghausen Volunteer Fire Department~ was on site with 35 emergency services and five vehicles.
The fire broke out mainly in the kitchen and quickly spread to the ground floor, where it was heavily smoked and fully ablaze. Luckily, a compact fire engine could be positioned directly in front of the house, which made the extinguishing efforts much easier. A fire engine also provided a water supply via a long hose line so that the fire could be quickly extinguished before it spread to other parts of the building.
Property damage and construction status
Initial feedback from the fire department indicates that the ground floor of the single-family home is uninhabitable. The estimated amount of material damage is in the low six-figure euro range. Fortunately, the fire itself was extinguished without any injuries as everyone present left the building in time. However, the upper floors were also badly damaged by smoke and heat, so they have to be closed here too.
Investigation into the cause of the fire
The investigation into the cause of the fire has already begun and is being carried out by the Traunstein Criminal Police Inspectorate under the direction of the Traunstein Public Prosecutor's Office. So far there is no evidence of external influence, which may calm the situation somewhat for the affected residents. Shortly after the fire, the local Burghausen police station took the first measures on site and secured the situation.
Overall, it is clear that quick and cooperative operations by the fire brigade and police in Burghausen are essential in order to successfully deal with such dangers. A dark cloud of smoke over the city caused some concerned looks in the community, but quick action prevented anything worse from happening.
