Preparations for this year's Historical Market Days in Inchenhofen are in full swing. Again Danube Courier reports, the organizers have their hands full to make an impressive journey back in time to the Middle Ages possible from July 25th to 27th, 2025. The first huts and seating areas were recently built and the bizarre costumes are slowly taking shape. The anticipation for the event, which is being held to celebrate the 625th anniversary of the granting of market rights, is palpable.
The ambience will be particularly impressive when Inchenhofen, a place once popular as a pilgrimage site, is transformed into a medieval backdrop. At that time, the place was the fourth largest place of pilgrimage, behind Rome, Jerusalem and Santiago de Compostela. The planned activities promise a remarkable connection to this traditional past.
Diverse program for young and old
The Historic Market Days begin on Friday, July 25th, at 5 p.m. with a ceremony opened by Mayor Toni Schoder. Craftsmen, artisans and local associations present their goods and delicacies at over 70 market stalls. There is a lot on offer this weekend for anyone with a love of history. From musical spectacles to fire shows to authentic cuisine, there is something for every age group to discover.
A very special highlight will be the play about the local legendary figure Friedl Geig, which will be performed on the festival weekend in thekraterhof next to the church. The third and fourth grades at Inchenhofen elementary school have rehearsed the piece in a child-friendly manner, directed by Manuela Balleis, and are accompanied by the flute player and dance group. The whole thing will be accompanied musically by Gertraud Pobitschka on the horn, which will create a wonderful atmosphere.
Entrance fees and market times
The admission prices are family-friendly: those dressed in historical clothing pay 7 euros for the entire weekend, while everyone else has to pay 10 euros. Children up to 1.30 meters tall have free entry. On Sunday the entrance fee is only 5 euros. The market times are different every day: Friday from 5 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A large children's program awaits young visitors on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will also be a festive service on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and a large parade at 2 p.m. The village community is well prepared to offer visitors a special atmosphere and sociable atmosphere in the farms and camps.
