A lot is happening in the picturesque Allgäu, because a new social mobile called "Sofi" has opened its doors. The BSG-Allgäu Foundation generously supported the innovative project with 3,000 euros. From autumn 2025, the mobile of the Diakonie Allgäu and Caritas Kempten/Oberallgäu will be on the road in various locations in the region and offer free social counseling and opportunities for meetings. Like a big friend who finally knocks, Sofi wants to offer people in rural areas and build up valuable help and build social networks.
A look at the streets of the Allgäu shows that Sofi stops at weekly markets, village spaces and even bus stops. Interested parties can receive information on various social issues such as illness, reduced earning capacity, social security or family difficulties here with a cup of Fairtrade coffee or tea. The advice is uncomplicated, without an appointment and takes place in a relaxed atmosphere - a place where you can feel comfortable and ask questions without pressure. This was also recognized by Martin Rüster from Diakonie Allgäu, who appeals to the difficulties of smaller communities, by no means to be able to perceive all advisory services in the larger cities.

A place of encounter is created in the community through promotions with clubs and volunteers, such as goal wall shooting or support for craftsmanship. Robert Treffler, CEO of the BSG-Allgäu Foundation, sees great potential for the foundation tenants and is convinced that Sofi will not only become a advice center, but also a linchpin for social interaction.
The Caritasverband Kempten-Oberallgäu e. V. supports this project and brings its diverse services to the cooperation. These include fast, unbureaucratic and prejudice -free help for people from Kempten and the Oberallgäu. The offers include advice, cheap shops in table and second-hand shops, financial benefits and the heat room, in which tasty food is offered. Other services are care offers and support services that aim to improve the life situation of disadvantaged persons and groups in society.

The financing of these valuable offers is largely through public funding, while a small part comes from church funds. The consulting services are usually free of charge so that nobody is excluded from the assistance due to financial restrictions. If you want to support Caritas' commitment, you can do so by donating. A donation account at Raiffeisenbank Kempten-Oberallgäu e.G. is set up and a donation receipt is issued.
