Find peace in everyday life: New meditation offer in Wunsiedel!
In times when the world seems to be turning faster and faster, more and more people are looking for ways to calm down and find themselves again. The Wunsiedel multi-generational home has launched a new, free offer that addresses exactly this need: “Sitting in silence”. From October 21, 2025, this offer will take place weekly on Tuesdays at 6:45 p.m. on the second floor of the house. The target group is everyone who is looking for inner balance and mindfulness in their often hectic everyday lives. Wiesentbote reports that the practice of sitting quietly is based on centuries-old traditions of meditation and contemplation and not only helps to find peace, but also to gain new strength.
The concept of silent meditation involves three sitting phases of around 20 minutes each, which are interrupted by conscious, slow walking. Participants can sit comfortably on a chair; meditation stools or cushions are welcome. Visitors are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket. No previous knowledge is necessary; the only necessary prerequisite is the willingness to commit to sitting quietly. The offer is ongoing and registration is not necessary. However, before taking part for the first time, please call 09232/7231.
The benefits of silence
The benefits of silence are many. Like in one Silent retreat described, letting go of external stimuli leads to deep inner insight and clarity. In silence, slower thoughts arise and the pressure to constantly react is reduced. This not only promotes a connection to one's own inner wisdom, but also the ability to observe thoughts and emotions without judgment.
The intensity of such experiences can increase the sensitivity of the body and mind and bring more liveliness and clarity. In the long term, the regular practice of silence promotes a state of peace and calmness, which helps us better deal with challenges and stress.
For everyone who is curious
The multi-generational home program could also be a wonderful addition for those who are looking for an intensive experience of silence like that offered in retreats, but don't have the time for a full weekend. The weekly meetings provide space for mindfulness and allow immersion in practice without the need for a long-term commitment.
The project is accompanied by Hella Möller and Edeltraud Simon, who will support the participants with their knowledge and experience. It is an opportunity to switch off, leave everyday life behind and be completely with yourself - an opportunity that is very popular these days.
