Würzburg's city council secures a 365-euro ticket and fan project for young people!
There was exciting news for young people in the Würzburg city council on Thursday afternoon! Decisions affecting young people were on the agenda and the results are impressive.
The continued support for the 365 euros ticket for trainees and students creates enthusiasm. From August 1, 2025, school students and trainees from the Würzburg district will be able to use buses and trains throughout the Mainfranken Transport Association (NVM) for just 365 euros per year. This is particularly attractive because the possible uses also include trips to the Rhön, Schweinfurt or Bad Kissingen. The financing was secured after uncertainty arose in advance about whether the ticket model would be maintained due to the new transport association.
Financing and grants
The students and trainees not only benefit from the savings, but also from a subsidy of 50 euros from the Würzburg district, while the municipality can vary its share between 50 and 100 euros. This means your own share amounts to 215 euros or 265 euros, depending on the situation. For comparison: a monthly training card will cost 50.20 euros per month from August 1, 2025.
To get the discounted ticket, young passengers have to follow three simple steps: First download and fill out an order form from the homepage, then have the details confirmed by the school or training company and finally bring the form to APG to pick up the ticket. It is important that the subsidy is only available when the ticket is issued on site at Juliuspromenade 40 - 44 in Würzburg.
The Würzburger Kickers fan project: An important step for young people
Another point that concerned the city council is this Fan project the Würzburger Kickers. This important youth and social project was launched to ensure that young football fans move in positive directions. After a critical phase in which financing had to be secured, those responsible learned after the city council meeting that the project could be continued for at least another year. The financing is supported by, among others, the Sparkassenstiftung, the DFB and the Free State of Bavaria.
With these decisions, the city of Würzburg shows that it is open to the concerns of young people. It is hoped that further initiatives will follow to further improve the lives of young people in the region. The motto “Young people deserve our support!” remains highly popular.
