Würzburg Baskets celebrate their fourth win in a row with 102 points!
The atmosphere in the tectake ARENA was electric on December 26, 2025, and the Fitness First Würzburg Baskets provided a true basketball show with a brilliant 102:83 victory over the VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier. It was not only the first “hundred” of the season for Würzburg, but also the fourth win in a row, which the fans were visibly happy about.
Both teams started the game offensively, and Urald King von Trier showed what he could do right from the start. After the first quarter it was 27:28 for Trier. But Würzburg didn't wait long and went on a strong 14-2 run before halftime, which increased the halftime score to 58:44. Defensively, Würzburg really stepped up and kept Trier well in check.
A game full of highlights
Marcus Carr was once again the man of the evening, scoring 22 points and contributing 6 assists. But Brae Ivey (20 points) and David Muenkat, who showed a remarkable performance off the bench with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, also brought a breath of fresh air into the game.
After halftime, Würzburg remained dominant. The third quarter ended with 75:61 and even though the coaches wanted to rest top performers in the final phase, a strong overall team package still came onto the field. Davion Mintz hit 4 of 6 three-pointers and scored 14 points, while Clayton Guillozet also made an important contribution and contributed 13 points as well as 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
The rebound statistics also deserve special mention: whoever controlled the boards won this time too. Würzburg secured 13 offensive rebounds, while Trier only secured 6. Maik Zirbes is also close to a personal milestone: he still needs two steals for 100 ball wins in his BBL career. The number of spectators of 3,140 people in the hall created a great atmosphere, which was characterized by drums, fan chants and a sea of red lights.
Next challenges for the baskets
The Würzburg Baskets are in brilliant form and will use the next few days to prepare for the challenges ahead. The next away game against ratiopharm ulm is scheduled for December 29, 2025.
Trier, in turn, has to compete against the strong players from FC Bayern Basketball on December 28, 2025. It remains exciting to see how the surprise team Trier will fare against the Titans of German basketball. However, the Baskets should go into the next game with new confidence.
For all Würzburg Baskets fans who don't want to miss the next home game: Entry is valid as a public transport ticket in the VVM network, a great offer for everyone who wants to travel in an environmentally friendly way. The hall is barrier-free and offers on-site catering for quick meals.
